Hi

I'm building a new workstation.. it's going to have a dual Xeon E5-2697 V3 processors and 3x 4K monitors. and the main OS will be Linux.

So,

What is the best motherboard, RAM, SSD for OS, power-supply and case ?

Will a single "GeForce GTX TITAN X" be able to handle the triple 4K monitors ?

What are the best 28-32" 4K monitor for production (not for gaming) ?

Is "Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler" the best option to cool down the CPUs ?

btw, my budget is quite open.

Thanks guys

I just want to start this with a wow.

ok,
for the motherboard, asus makes a really nice dual CPU motherboard:

for ram, crucial makes huge kits of ECC RAM, which your xeons will use:

for a SSD, samsung makes some of the best SSD's out there, and because theres a M.2 SSD slot on the motherboard, this is the fastest SSD out there right now:

you can add to that with some samsung 850 pro ssd's:

for a OS, linux is...

for a OS, linux is free, so look online for a copy.

if you want to go all-out, the corsair AX1500i is the best PSU out there right now:
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-cp9020057na

for a case, the corsair 760t is one of the prettiest cases out there right now, and it will fit every thing you want:

yes, a single titan X can power 3 4k displays. it has 3 displayport ports on the back, so 3 4k displays @ 60Hz.

one of the best displays out there right now is the LG 31MU97, look on youtube for linustechtips's review:
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/lg-monitor-31mu97

the NH-D15 is one of the quietest CPU coolers out there, and should be just fine to cool those CPU's.

I'm a big Linux fan ;P

Thanks a lot man :)

I have only one comment about the lg monitor ... it's actually 17:1 (4096x2160)
is there an option to let it 16:1 (3840x2160) ?
if not... I'd rather a 4k monitor that is 16:1 natively (double the FHD)

two more questions...
can I put two different graphics card in one machine ? like (titan x and gtx 980) or (nvidia and amd) ?

how can I setup the ssd cache ? and what is useful of it ? will it speed up the boot process only? if you can .. please explain it to me or give a good link that covers all about the ssd caching

thanks again man.. :)

I don't think I'll be able to install two of Noctua NH-D15

so I was wondering will NZXT Kraken x61 work with xeon e5-2697 v3 ?

in the specs it said that x61 supports "Intel LGA 2011-3, 1366, 1156, 1155, 1150 CPUs
AMD FM2, FM1, AM3+, AM3, AM2+, AM2 CPUs"

and Xeon socket is "FCLGA2011-3"

so is there a big difference between "LGA2011-3" and "FCLGA2011-3" that won't let the kraken x61 works on xeon ?

FCLGA2011-3 is just another name for LGA2011-3. the 2 NZXT coolers will theoretically work, but you will need a case that has a place for a 560 radiator (280X2), and there are not many of them. I recommend just getting 2 240mm coolers, as support for 480mm (240X2) is much better.

Cool, Thanks man

I guess I go with the Nzxt X61..

I'm purchasing the items now

as well as I'm trying the first monitor you suggested the LG

anyway... it's kindda hard to find EVGA Titan X online... still searching

the only one thing I didn't make my mind on yet... is the case... can you please suggest me the best case for future extreme liquid cooling ?

thanks a lot again @davidarad02 ,
you were really helpful :)

the only case that I think off the top of my head, that supports quad 140mm radiators is the caselabs SMA8, but that it over 500 bucks, and there is not way the tubing will reach where the mounts are.

I recommend not getting the x61's, and getting a couple of 240mm coolers instead (like the new Corsair h100i GTX), and getting something like a Phanteks enthoo primo, or the Corsair 900D. both are much less expensive, and can fit a whole bunch of radiators.

Or should I go with 1 x Nzxt Kraken X61 for the first CPU

and 1 x Noctua NH-D15 for the second CPU ?

If I really should do that... then well you suggest me the idealist case for my setup

thanks a lot

from those 2 cases, the air 540 wins without a doubt, but the problem with 2 AIO's in that case, is that the tubing will not look centred, like it would be with 2 air coolers.
while the Noctua coolers do look kinda ugly, there are Be Quiet! coolers which are all black, but perform worse. its your call after all.
