Help with Ethernet

I am building my first gaming pc, so obviously probably want a wired connection. I went to look at my router/modem and found that there are 4 or so LAN outputs from the router, and the Internet output going to my modem (or maybe coming from my modem, I don't know that much about it). So my question is: can I use an Ethernet cable to connect my computer to the LAN output on my router?

Yes you can connect your PC to one of the LAN ports on the router.

The modem handles the incoming internet connection, whilst the router handles the distribution of that incoming connection to one or more computers in your local network.
