Help with fitting cooler Master hyper 103

Hi, I have a cooler Master hyper 103 on order and my motherboard is gigabyte ga-f2a78m with kavari 7850k.
I have never fitted a cpu cooler before so any tips would be great, in particular the use of thermal compound scares me a little as I have read conflicting views on the correct amount to use.

the purpose of thermal paste is to eliminate air between CPU and cooler surfaces. a pea size drop should be enough for most case. I don't think methods of applying make big different.
The installation is quite straight forward, watch some videos before install if you like.

The CM cooler should have thermal paste preapplied.

Thanks guys I don't know what I was worried about, installed it fine and now whilst gaming my thermal margin sits between 40-55 under heavy load, and it's pretty quiet.
