Help with Fractal Design R4's case cables

Hello hello,

So I'm in the process of my first build and it was all easypeasy until I had to start connecting sockets to cables - and I just felt so confused.

I'm not sure what these cables are, where they're suppsoed to connect to and whether I need them at all.

Here's a photo:

These 4 cables (3 are the same, one different which looks like it connects to a Molex cablehead from the PSU) come out from the top left side of the motherboard side, behind the switch which controls the fan speed. Obviously I suspect these have something to do with that.

Could someone who owns an R4 tell me what I'm supposed to do?

Don't worry, those are the cables used to connect the fans to the fan controller build into the case itself The molex is to give power for the fans connect to the controller. You should connect the case fans to those connectors and a molex from the PSU to the molex connector 😀

The fans had cables coming out of them too, which I plugged into the SYS_Fan1/2 ports on my Gigabyte D3H Motherboard. Are you saying unplug those and plug the fan cables (3 female holes) into the cables coming from the switch (2 male prongs)? Kinda makes sense and then again it doesn't really since the numbers differ and they're both designed Fractal Design. 😱

I would recomend doing that because you can then control the fans from the fan controller itself on the case

I had the same confusion with this case.
The switch on the front allows the fans to be plugged into it, the ASUS P8Z77v-Deluxe board has several sockets for the fans, and the beQuiet Dark Power Pro has sockets too. All three allow control of the fans; the case by a switch, the motherboard via Window software and the PSU by intelligent control.
I hate not being able to use all the functions available to me, afterall I paid for them, but in the end I decided to wrap up the cables for the Fractal case, ignore the motherboard (as I use Linux not Windows), and use the PSU to intelligently control them automatically (at least that's what the manual and website suggests it does).
Perhaps I could use the switch on the R4 for some other purpose but haven't figured out what or how yet.
