I'm not sure if this is a phone problem (port), WIndows problem, cable problem, or Android problem. I have a relatively new Pixel 2 that I'm trying to connect to my machine. I've been trying to connect using a USB-A to USB-type C cable and while the phone will show up in Windows 10 as "Pixel 2" I am unable to access any files. In System>USB it says "charging" and when I select "transfer files" it disconnects from Windows, reconnects, and goes right back to charging. The cable is advertised as a data and charging cable. When I try the USB-type C to type C cable that came with the phone I can get it to set to "transfer files" only after I lock the phone and unlock with PIN (not fingerprint). This seems like some sort of Android security setting. Am I doing something wrong with the USB-A to type-C cable that is preventing it from shifting from charge only to data transfer? Other troubleshooting I've done is reset the phone (didn't work) and enable USB debugging in developer options (also didn't work). Before I bring the phone into the store to see if it is defective, what else should I try? Could it be that cable is USB 2.0 and I need 3.0?
