I had just bought a new gpu and installed it into my PC but when I connected into my monitor it didn't work. At first I thought it was the monitor, but it connected fine to another PC I had, and it wasn't the cable either because my PC connected fine to another display ( an HP). I don't understand why but the monitor will just shut off when connected to my PC.

I'm using a geforce gtx 1050 2gb
and my monitor is a dell LCD monitor with a 22 inch screen

Solution
How are you connected to the monitor (which interface)? HDMI, DP, DVI-D, VGA? If VGA (using DVI to VGA), realize the 1050 doesn't support it natively and requires and "Active" convertor. The DVI-VGA adapters that exist require DVI-I (both digital and analog signals includes) whereas modern cards are DVI-D (digital only).

Without more info, it's tough to give you much more insight.
