Help with GPU and MOBO drivers?

Hi, tomorrow will be my first PC build and I am just pondering about the drivers.

Should I use the disk which is much easier and hassle free (no flash drive or stuff) or should I take the long method of downloading them on my laptop, transferring and installing via that way?

I am leaning towards the disks, because there are no complicated multiple driver downloads and stuff

So should I install via flash drive or disk? (Disk that came with mobo & GPU)

I would recommend downloading the latest drivers the ones that come on the disc are usually older.

Don't worry I'll download them. Do I need the SATA RAID/AHCI Drivers? There's like 5 and they don't look too important.

Depending on the OS and the Sata controller on the motherboard you may need the AHCI driver to install the OS.

Well, in my motherboard manual it states this: '1As Windows 7 already inclides Intel SATA RAID/AHCI driver you do not need to install seperate RAID/AHCI driver during the Windows installation process. After the operating system is installed, we reccommend that you install all required drivers from the motherboard driver disk'

I'm guessing this means RAID/AHCI is not required. Also, VGA is not required either right, because I have a discrete card.

So tell me if I'm right with these drivers:

2 USB drivers
VIA audio driver
2 Chipset drivers
1 LAN driver
The RADEON catalyst suite driver

The only usb drivers 7 will need are USB 3.0 drivers if the motherboard has usb 3.0. You should only need 1 chipset driver.

Yeah the USB drivers are for the USB 3.0s

There were 2 chipset drivers, one was quite a big driver (50mb) and the other took 1 second to download, it's called intel INF.

So I am right in assuming I don't need RAID/AHCI drivers?

For the AHCI driver just do as the manual says. Whats the make and model of the motherboard?

Well there are 5 drivers available on the website. The mobo is a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H. The manual says I don't need those drivers I think, as I stated in my previous post.

Audio- Via audio driver
Chipset- Intel INF installation(Intel management engine isnt required)
LAN- Atheros lan driver
SATA- Intel rapid storage and Marvel sata driver
USB 3.0 intel and via driver
That should be all you need, 7 drivers total.

I'm surprised I don't need the management engine considering it's the bigger file.

EDIT: Is that the Marvell SATA controller driver, or the Storage Utility?

You dont really need the marvel storage utility unless you are using a raid on the Marvell controller and want to manage it from windows.
