Help With Hardrives/SSD Setup

I'm trying to decide between using an SSD as a boot drive along with Microsoft Office, Chrome, and Steam or using the SSD as a cache for the HDD. Correct me if i'm wrong, but I thought that the cache acts almost like RAM for the HDD allowing it to work much faster. So would the cache be the better option or no?

No do not use it as a cache, use the SSD as intended, a boot drive with important programs. The HDD works to its full potential as is.

If I was you I would just use your SSD as your boot device as it has a much faster read and write speed than a HDD
