I have an HP 9018 Inkjet Printer and HP has been blocking 3rd party ink for a while which is preventing me from printing or even scanning. I was able to disable firmware updates and downloaded the older firmware, but when I try and install the firmware on my PC with the printer connected via USB it detects the printer but the update option is grayed out.
I've also tried copying the firmware executable file to a USB stick and installing it from the printer, but that did not work either
Do I need to bite the bullet here and install genuine HP cartridges in order to use this printer? I'm not sure if I have any other options
