I would like to install my new SSD with windows 8 on that drive and my old hard drive I would like to use for only storage to store music, pictures, videos ect. So before I install windows on my SSD I need to uninstall windows 8 completely off my old hard drive and format it later (correct me if im doing this in the wrong order), how do I get rid of windows 8 on my HDD so I can install it on my SSD? Thanks

Run W8.1 installation, select the SSD to install windows on.

Once installed you will have 2 Windows' to boot from, select the SSD to boot from in the bios , then copy over the data from your old HDD to your new SSD, format the HDD and move the files back across from the SDD to your HDD.

Job Done

1. Without changing your old config, plug in the new SSD
2. Create a partition on the SSD and format to NTFS (you might not have to if it came with a partition and already formatted)
3. Unplug old drive (leave the SSD in) and put in the windows disc or USB installer and start the PC
4. Install Windows
5. Plug back in old HDD and grab any data you need off it, once that's done just format it and you're done. It should be ready to use for storage and your SSD will have windows on it. Make sure your boot priorities are correct in the BIOS along with the right SATA config.

So I should not format the HDD then install windows on SSD? I must install windows on SSD then format the HHD? it must be done in that order? im assuming you cannot format the HHD if another OS is not installed on the computer?

You want to keep the data right ? pics/music/videos... install W8 on the SSD first , then copy the files you want to keep from your HDD to the SSD, format the HDD and move the files from you SDD to your new formatted HDD.
