I just bought a new 256GB SSD and I'm planning to install Windows 10 on it. But I already have Windows 10 installed on my 1TB HDD.
I want to remove W10 from my HDD and perform a clean install on my SSD. I have already made a bootable USB with Win10 on it.

My question is, should I remove the HDD while installing Windows on the new SSD? Also, I don't want to completely format the HDD since it has many irreplaceable files. So, how can I only remove the old Win10 from my HDD?
Any help would be appreciated.

Whe installing win 10 yes you should only ever have 1 drive physically connected , so disconnect either the power or data cable from that drive temporarily.

Your best way with the old drive to keep some files is to shrink the current partition , make a new one (it will show as a seperate drive) & manually copy files over that you want to keep .

Once thats done (on your currently working windows install) once you install windows on the ssd you can reconnect the original drive & remove the windows partition , all the files you copied over will remain on the drive .

Example 1 on the above page goes through shrinking a windows partition & creating a secondary one.

I already have the HDD partitioned. It looks like this

So, I should just delete the "Windows 10" partition from my HDD after installing W10 on my SSD right? But, what should I do with the "System Reserved" partition?

Thanks for the help.
