Hello, I am currently looking for a laptop to last me through my 4 years of engineering at university. I am looking at the clevo p150em and was wondering what specs you guys would recommend.

I need something to help me multi task on the internet (research) while also being able to run all my graphics rendering and algorithms associated with my program. I would like it to be able to play games as well but top settings are not a priority, my priority is speed of the laptop.

I am looking at:

INTEL Core™ i7-3720QM Quad-Core 2.6 - 3.6GHz TB, HD Graphics 4000, 6MB L3 Cache, 22nm, 45W
NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 675M 2GB GDDR5 Mobile Graphics Card for P150EM
DDR3 16GB (4 x 4GB) PC3-12800 DDR3 1600MHz SDRAM SODIMM (w/ Core-i7 Processor Only)
HDD 750GB, 7200-RPM, 16MB cache, 2.5-Inch, SATA 3 Gb/s
CLEVO Dual Layer Super-Multi DVD±RW Optical Drive
NETWORK Built-in 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet LAN Card
WIRELESS Wireless 802.11b/g/n LAN Card and Bluetooth Module
MICROSOFT Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Edition

for $1660

any suggestions on how to optimize this laptop for speed would be appreciated. I also would like to have a ssd ran as my OS drive but i would like to keep the laptop under $2000, which includes $120 shipping.

Your best bet would be to get a laptop with a second HDD bay, and no OS (if that is an option) reinstalling the OEM Windows onto an SSD maybe a hassle; so getting your own copy of windows and your own SSD would be easier.
