I have an ASUS Z270I mini-ATX motherboard and am using Windows 10 which is currently installed on a Crucial MX300 525GB M.2 SSD. I just bought another M.2 SSD of the same, however, Windows does not recognize it, even in Disk Management but the motherboard does in the BIOS.

I had one of the SATA ports occupied with a 2TB SSHD when I popped in the second M.2. Thinking that seeing how I'm using one of the SATA ports, it disabled the second M.2 slot on the back of the board. So, naturally, I disconnected the 2TB SSHD but nothing changed. I even restarted my PC and refreshed the drives in Disk Management, and no go. I was under the impression that I could use both the SATA ports and SSD slots without issue on this board, but just to see if I was wrong, that is why I removed the 2TB SSHD.

BIOS recognizes it, so I know it isn't defective, or at least, I don't think so. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Solution
only 1 at a time for your mx300. unless you buy a ssd with pcie interface, then you can use 2
since mx300 use sata interface, you could have get a sata mx300 ssd instead of the m.2
https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/ROG-Strix-Z270I-Gaming/specifications/
1 x M.2 Socket 3, with M key, type 2242/2260/2280 storage devices support (SATA & PCIE 3.0 x 4 mode)*1
1 x M.2 Socket 3, with M key, type 2242/2260/2280 storage devices support (PCIE 3.0 x 4 mode)*1

one of them support both sata and pcie interface. your crucial mx300 use sata
one of them only support pcie interface.

OK, forgive my ignorance here, but I'm a noob when it comes to all of this, this is my first build. Am I able to use both of my M.2 SSD's, or only one at a time? If both, how do I go about doing that?
