I have an ASUS RT AC5300 Router that I recently purchased. The one I had before was an ASUS RT AC66U, it was a great router other than the signal strength throughout the house so I upgraded. Anyway, I have a WD My Book 3TB External HDD hooked up through the USB 3.0 port on my 5300 Router. For the most part everything is fine, however, when I go to transfer files from my desktop, which is hardwired directly to the router that my HDD is plugged in to, I cannot drag and drop or copy and paste from the desktop to the HDD via the Router. I set the router up the same way as I did the other one and I know it doesn't have to do with Windows 10 because I have been using that even with the old router. Does anyone have any idea why I cannot move files over from the computer to the HDD?

Thank you in advance.

What exactly happens when you try to copy files? Can other computers copy files to the hard drive? Can you see the files on the hard drive and use them? Or copy from the drive to the computer? Are you sure you setup the rights on the hard drive to be read/write or maybe it's just set to Read?
