Help with Monitor Choice

Solution
Haha yeah I'm the same. You'll be using a while so you want to make the right choice! You know where I stand anyway - quality over quantity every time (I'm calling speed quantity for some reason).
You're looking at TN monitors there. They have inferior image quality to other panels types like IPS and PLS. Only people that buy them are those who want something cheap and don't know (or don't care) about image quality, or people who want something fast and don't know/care about quality. So if you're gonna sacrifice quality by buying TN, at least get a really fast one.

I'd say it doesn't matter, but there are some people who really like 120Hz. You can't have both though unfortunately - it's either maximum speed or it's maximum quality. What I would say though is that you'll notice the lack of quality more than you'd notice the lack of refresh rate.

Although you can't get 120Hz IPS/PLS panels, you can still get very fast pixel response IPS/PLS if you buy from a manufacturer with a good RTC overdrive implementation. Of the reasonably-priced brands, ASUS does this best with their Trace Free feature. I'd recommend picking up a PA238Q, PB238Q or PA248Q and setting Trace Free at 40 (turn it up too high and you'll just get inverse trails).

Yeah that looks like a decent monitor, though I don't think it has the Trace Free feature. You could email ASUS and ask them (though they're pretty crap with responding to emails). To be honest, even without Trace Free I don't think trails/response will be a serious issue on any modern IPS, but when you can get Trace Free for the same kind of prices, that's what I'd do. I'm British so not that familiar with American pricing, but somebody told me they could get an MX239H for $205 and a PB238Q for similar.

LOL, I'm terrible at making these choices. I agonize over picking the right tech stuff. I'm stuck between choosing a 144hz TN or an IPS at 60hz.

What would the majority of you say? Game on a IPS 60 or go for the 144 with worse colors.

I play everything, RTS, FPS, RPG
I have a

i5 4670, GTX 770, maybe another one later

LOL Sam_p_lay, I went against you, and chose the VG248QE. I just think smoother game play will be the ticket, since this PC is going to be strictly for gaming. NOTHING ELSE

Thanks for your help though, when they get a 120Hz IPS, I'll be all over it

Glad I could help :) It is an exceptionally fast monitor! For me, games are actually the most important thing where I want colour to be good but like I said, all down to your priorities. You'll have a hard time finding a faster monitor than the VG248QE! Remember to set Trace Free to 40 for best results. Enjoy your purchase!
