I want to transfer a musical answering message from the computer to my land line answering machine and have it sound as good as it does on the computer. I tried burning the song to a CD-R audio disc and played it on my Blu Ray player without success. If I had an answering machine with a USB port I could hook directly into my PC, would that work so the sound would be as clear as on the computer?

Solution

If it has a USB port it's only for Outlook and displaying who is calling on the computer. Look up the model and read the manual.
The only thing you can do is play back the sound on the computer while recording the message. It will never sound as good as answering machines were not made for sound quality as much as capacity and price, plus the speakers and playback and recording system is not as good as in a computer.

Did you find an answering machine with a USB port? Once you do, read it's features and you'll have your answer.

Only systems with a USB port connection are a few models of higher end phones and their USB ports are for using Outlook to call and for notifications.

Best Buy sells a Panasonic answering machine with a USB port. I called their Geek Squad and explained what I wanted to do. They weren't any help. I don't want to go to the expense of buying another answering machine if that won't work. Got any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Buy it and if it doesn't do what you want, return it. One of the main reasons to have a return policy is to encourage people to buy and try out products with no risk.
