help with my acer aspire 5020 laptop

so i got this laptop broken the screen when you turn it on just gliches like into 8 line 4 working and 4 non working and its not the screen couse when it restarts the acer logo shows up on half of the screen the other half is white and on the bottom has repeted text for the setup menu when the button is clicked it changes to setup so the screen shows all but the laptop gives out this signal and when booting any text is just mangled the bios the windows xp exept winowsd 7 logo is half visible no magle but all text for disk check is

Hi

Do you have access to a External LCD screen?
If so connect the laptop to the LCD screen & send video signal to external screen

If you get a good signal to the external screen it probably means the laptop screen is broken but the Graphics chip or card is working OK and you can test the laptop is working OK apart from the LCD

So replacing the LCD screen will probably be worth while.

Are you capable of changing the LCD screen yourself ?
or do you want some one to repair it for you?

If this a Acer laptop from about 2005 it is not worth spending money on major repairs

well i mean is it like a gpu problem couse i know how to fix it i fixed it on my haier one its overheating so the blackscreen happend i just needed to burn it with something hot so it melted back in place worked until it overheated again

If it is the GPU chip is over heating then there is a problem with the cooling system, heat pipes etc

Since the laptop is old it does not matter if you manage to re flow the solder and fix it or destroy the motherboard

well its not mine and im not onehunderet procent sure its hardware but the pc is old and would be used for programing nxt robots training
