Help with my htpc build (choppy 1080p playback)

I got a problem I just finished building my htpc and I can't get smooth 1080p playback.

I read people play 1080p on much lower specs so whats my problem?
I simply installed vista 32bit and used newest VLC media player. I think the video acceleration is not working since my cpu spikes at 70% (unless thats normal)

Any ideas? Should I use different video player?

VLC player doens't have support for DXVA, IIRC. 70% load isn't that bad but here is a great tutorial on using DXVA with a program called MPC-HC (Media Player Home Classic) one of the best programs IMO for HD playback. I like it more than PDVD9 :lol:

You might also want to try PDVD 9, in MPC-HC I don't think you can play BD's right off the disk.

no more jerky movies and one core is at 70% and other one is at 30%

^ Nice. What player are you using? I'm suprised you got VLC to play the file, whenver I played high res files with VLC it would just lock up.

I have tried the KMP player and it doesn't shutter anymore.
I never had problems with VLC player, I have tested it on my gaming rig and hooked it up to our new tv and it worked fine (q6600@3.4ghz ati 4870 1gig)
