So my Uncle gave me his old PC. It is an hp pavilion hpe from 2009 that came with an ati radeon and an amd phenom 2 x4. He upgraded it to a nvidia geforce gtx 960 and upgraded to 8gb of ram. However, he gave me the amd phenom 2 x6 1090t processor and told me to install it. I just finished installing it, however, my pc was acting strange for a little bit. The UI such as the spinning blue circle or animations on windows 10 would move very slowly. I did a restart which did not help. Eventually, I turned off the pc and booted it up again and now it is fine. Was that just a temporary side effect? Or was it something more serious? Right now I've been playing overwatch perfectly fine for about an hour. Help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have noticed though that on overwatch I am running around 30-45 instead of the usual 60+.

Check your CPU temperatures - this CPU runs hotter than Phenom x4s, and if you used the same stock cooler as on x4, it won't be enough and it will limit your performance. If CPU temps exceed 65C (AMD CPUs have really low max temp) you will have to invest in a better CPU cooler.

I've used the cooler that came with the processor. I believe I may have incorrectly applied the thermal paste. I will buy some more thermal paste because the one it came with was very little and I have none left.
