I’ve been looking to upgrade my cpu (AMD FX 4300 Quad Core Processor) but honestly don’t really know what I’m doing. I’ve been looking at the Intel Core i5-8400 but think I’m right in thinking that a motherboard change would also be required. As well as this I want to upgrade my gpu (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti) for a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080. Would this create any problems? Sorry it’s a bit of an ask but if anyone could help that’d be great.

This is a tough one based on budget...Have not included PSU, SSD/HD, Case but a Ryzen 2600, Fast RAM in DDR4 3000 and a 1070...

My budget is around £600 ($760). I didn’t see the r5 2600 I assume it’s better? Rest of system : 8GB RAM, windows 10 64-bit os,x64-based processor, 2TB storage, MSI 760GM-p23 motherboard. Do you need anymore information? I’d give you a link to the pc but I think it’s been discontinued ( probably for a reason lol)

I wasn’t looking to change the casing/PSU if I don’t have too. Also I was hoping for price drops in sales after Christmas. If not would a cpu or gpu upgrade be better to start with?

This is brilliant thanks. Would the parts not upgraded have any negative effect on the final capabilities of the pc? If not then that solves my problem thanks so much!

No problems at all....and no you should be fine and the only thing to add is an SSD if you do noit have one already...SSD's are very cheap now and make a huge difference over a normal HD...

Also make sure you have a power supply at or around 550w...
