Just built a brand new rig - having some issues with it not posting on initial power on. Is this an issue of conflict between the CPU (Ryzen 5 3600, Part of AMDs new lineup) and the motherboard (msi b450 gaming pro canon ac)? testing it with 16gb of tridentZ 3200 and onboard graphics. I bought the parts thinking there would be no issue between mobo and cpu because amd said there wouldn’t, and said that if there were issues it would potentially need a BIOS update l, this thing won’t even post.

My second theory is that it’s because of the new 3000 series power draw. We are using 8 out of the 12 pin CPU power because the psu didn’t come with extra cables to fit all 12 slots.

Yea you would need the bios update.
Only the 8 pin is needed to boot.

Your board has this feature "
  • Flash BIOS Button: Simply use a USB key to flash any BIOS within seconds, without installing a CPU, memory or graphics card.
"
I would try this. Instructions are in your owners manual.
