Help with no sound on Dell desktop PC

Do you have speakers connected and do they work?

speakers work brand new in disconnected them

By disconnecting the speakers you cannot get sound , to get sound you need to connect the speakers.

ok, they are connected now...now what

You have to go into the control panel and under sound and hardware make sure that the sound card is selected to be enabled and that the speakers are selected as the hardware to be used for sound. If your motherboard has a built in sound chip then in the bios you have to make sure that it's enabled and that you have loaded the sound chips drivers off the motherboard driver cd.
