Hello Fellow Tom's Hardware members. I'm new here so go easy on my tigers 😉.
A few months ago I was really reading a lot on how to over clock, In general and then moved on to spend many hours on how to over clock something that is similar to my pc. Today I have made a wise choice of joining here for help!
My Rig as is;
CPU : Q6600 B3
CPU Cooler: Tuniq Tower 120
With AS5
Motherbored : Asus P5k - Premium Wifi
RAM: Crucial Ballistics Pc8500 1066Mhz [4Dims X1Gb]
GPU Cooling: Thermalright Hr rev A
Graphics Card: BFG 8800GT OC2
Power Supply : Hiper 680W
Case : Antec 900
HDD1 Windows : 320GB samsung
HDD2 WDC 500Gb
HDD3 Samsung 120Gb
[I have orderd two WD X 150Gb
1 CD drive
1 Floppy Drive
1 card reader
^^ I only said all of that so you can get an idea of my power consumption.
My overclocking setting in the Bios >> Advance view
AI overclocking [Manual]
CPU Ratio control [Manual]
Ration CMOD setting [ 9]
FSB Stap to north bridge [Auto]
FSB Frequency [354]
PCIE Frequency [100]
DRAM Frequency [DDR-1065Mhz] WONT CLOCK! more about that later
DRAM command Rate [2T]
DRAM Timing Contro [Manaul]
Cas# Latency 5Dram Clocks
RAS# To Cas# Latency 5Dram Clocks
RAS# Precharge 5Dram Clocks
RAS# Active Time 15Dram Clocks SOMONE EXPLAIN HOW TIMINGS WORK?
RAS# To Ras# delay [Auto]
Row Refresh Cycle Time [Auto]
Write recovey time [Auto]
Write to read time [Auto]
Read to precharge time [Auto]
Dram Static Read Controll. [Auto]
Transactions booster [Auto] WHAT DOES THIS DO?
CLock Over-Charging Mode [AUTO] AND THIS ^^
CPU Spread Spectrum [Auto]
PCIE Spread Spectrum [Auto]
CPU Voltage [1.30000V] Stock = 1.2
CPU Voltage reference [Auto]
CPU Voltage Damper [Auto]
CPU PLL Voltage [Auto]
DRAM Voltage 2.25 [Stock at 1.2]
FSB Termination Voltage [1.2]
NB Voltage [1.25V]
NB Voltage reference [Auto]
SB Voltage [1.05V]
Okay, That's it for that part. Now for CPU Configuration
CPU Ration Control [Manaul]
Ratio CMOS setting [ 9]
C1E Support [Disabled]
MAX CPUID Value Limet [Enabled]
Vanderpool Technolgy
CPU TM Fuction [Enabled]
Execute Disable Bit [Enabled]
PECI [Enabled]
After typing all that on to my laptop from my desktop which took about 10 or so mins my temps are in the bios
CPU Temp [36C / 96.5F]
MB Temp [39C / 102]
Load temp after 5mins @ all cores 100% : 43 with speedfan.
Now to my questions, Because MY FSB is 354 which gives me a FSB 1416Mhz, If I go any higher this pushes my 4 options for my RAM of around 1066, When ever I go maybe 40Mhz over with my ram I get lockups, BSOD's etc etc.. I have 4 dims.
So how can I clock my CPU without clocking my ram? I would really love a 1:1 ratio but there is no way in hell that ram will clock to 1416Mhz from 1066.
Is it true 4 dims are bad to clock with?
How can I clock my CPU higher taking my ram up so that is stable too?
Is there any tweaks I could maybe take?
Thanks in advance guys!
