[SOLVED] Help With OS X Reinstallation on MacBook Pro

So I received a used MacBook pro a few months ago, and it's been working great. But, being the tinkerer I am, I have formatted and partitioned the hard drive numerous times in order to dual/triple boot it. Now when I navigate to the apple boot menu by holding down the alt/Options key, no hard drives, USB Drives, or DVDs that I plug in show up. I've reset the PRAM, tried to boot off the USB by using internet recovery, but nothing's worked. None of the devices show up. Now I can't install any Operating System because I can't boot off a USB or a DVD. I created a Mac Install USB with transmac on windows. I also tried reinstalling using Internet Recovery, but I keep getting an error. I don' t have another mac, but I do have a few windows machines. How can I reinstall mac OS X on my MacBook




The MacBook is an 13" Early 2011 MacBook Pro

As I stated before, I already tried .using internet recovery but I keep getting errors. First it gives me this error:
An error occurred while preparing the application. try running this application again After a few minutes of Googling, I found that changing the date fixed the error. Then I get this error: This item is temporarily unavailable try aging later
I also googled this, but found that there were no answers to people with the same problem.

That means that you almost certainly need to update the EFI firmware. If you can't boot of a USB device to do this, which you say you can't, you'll have to take it to an Apple Store. They probably won't charge anything for this.

Edit: Although the answer is much the same (take it to an Apple Store), further reading shows that the cause may not be the firmware. This can also happen if you don't log on with the Apple Store ID that was used when the computer was first configured. So either get the person you borrowed it from to log on to do the install or take it to an Apple Store. They can update your ID with the appropriate OS entitlement.. I would imagine they would want to establish ownership so you should take any receipts with and be prepared for them to check their database of machines reported as stolen.

Not if you can't boot from any device. Just ask the original owner to help with the install.
