okay so im trying to overclock my i76850k with asusx99-aii mobo

I used this video and copied his settings and got to 4.2

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2h8jWBd0XL4

I am trying to reach 4.5 and not sure what i need to do.. i tried changing the cores from 42 to 45 but my pc crashed while booting.. I am using the same settings in the tutorial and am running prime95 and it has not crashed yet with max temps hitting 53-55c. ( I did not change do anything to my ram tho) as in the video he changed his ram settings, but i left mine alone.

Any ideas on what I need to do so i can reach 45?

Solution
I would just leave it at 4.4 at 1.35 volts. You should stress your cpu with a program like prime 95 or aida 64 and make sure your cpu is running cool.under 80 is best, however if you get to under 90 in prime 95 after running for a long period of time your overclock is cool enough since in games you will never get to that high of temps. These will also test the system for stability. If the rig fails either tests, you may need to turn down the clocks slightly.

how much should i raise it to? right now im at 1.230

do i need to change the cpu cache ratio as well? i have it set at 30 right now at 4.2ghz and right now im trying to hit 4.5ghz so i dont know if i need to change that or not

i can get 4.4ghz but with voltage at 1.35... is that really bad? can i leave it at that or should i just go back to 4.2?
i also bumped the cache ratio to 35 from 30

Solution
I’ve ran prime for 30 min but the temps hit 82. Right now I’m reapplying the thermal paste because when I got my cooler it already had the paste pre applied on it so I feel like I should re do it and do the pea dot method

we will see if the temps changed since i reapplied thermal paste, quick question... i have one of those crappy aio corsair coolers and i was wondering if I plug in the pump to cpu fan or w_pump? wasnt sure because ive read different answers

ok thats not good i got 3 errors on prime 95 while running it.. my system didnt crash, but what should i do now?

I went down to 4.3 thats all i lowered didnt touch anything else

ran prime for an hour and had no crashes

so i guess its 4.3 for me lol really wanted 4.5 but oh well

thank you for the help!
