Hello, I've just recently built my first gaming PC and wanted some opinions on my overclocking situation.

After installing windows and getting all of the latest drivers for everything, including the most recent BIOS update for my Asus Z170 Pro Gaming, I started trying to overclock. At first, I tried the EZ tuning wizard in the UEFI, which did not work and would not load windows. After being stuck in a black screen and needing to hard shut down, I went back to the UEFI, reverted back to default settings, and then realized that the tuning wizard had also overclocked my RAM as per it's XMP.

So now with the default settings, I chose "Sync all cores" and set my multiplier to 46, and increased my CPU core voltage to 1.325V (as per a recommendation from a YT video). After running Cinebench and POVRay and seeing max temperatures of about 83 and 87 respectively, I started running some games to compare FPS values. The Witcher 3 and Dirt Rally ran fine, and CSGO actually improved a fair amount with the OC, but then I got my first blue screen.

So then I went back and I bumped up the voltage to 1.345V. Re did everything I mentioned above, and everything was about the same but no blue screen and my temps went up to 86 and 90 respectively on Cinebench and POVRay.

So considering all of this, do you think there is anything else I should be doing for this overclock? Are these temps too high even for benchmark numbers? I plan on putting the CPU core voltage on the Adaptive setting afterwards. I guess I'm just a little surprised that even with my voltage/temps up as high as they are, I'm just barely able get 4.6 GHz. What do you guys think? FYI I am only running an air cooler (Hyper 212 Evo).

Edit: I also wanted to mention that in my UEFI on the main page where it shows what processor you have, it doesn't recognize the new OC CPU speed (4600 MHz), instead it only displays the stock 4000 MHz. When I'm running benchmarks though I definitely see it running at 4600 MHz. I assume it doesn't matter then, that it doesn't show on the BIOS home?

Solution
Anything above 80c is the danger zone for CPU's if I were you I wouldnt let my CPU reach those temperatures even on a benchmark. If you aren't careful it can fry your entire system.
