I recently bought a 980ti and am using my old 770 as a dedicated physx card. I noticed on bios that both pci-e slots are running at x8 even though the specification of my motherboard says I have 3 pci-e x 16 slots. I have the 980ti in the slot closest to the CPU and the 770 right below it.

Anyway to get the 980ti to run at x16 while have the dedicated physx card?

No. There are only 16 PCIe 3.0 lanes available from the CPU. Those are split to 8 lanes for each slot when you use two graphics cards.

But the performance loss from running a GTX 980 Ti at PCIe 3.0 x8 instead of x16 is minimal. A couple percent at most.

Nothing to worry about. The max bandwidth is x16. When 2 cards installed, the slots will be throttled down to 8x each. Even with one or two 980ti's, the cards won't even come close to 16x much less the 8x in 2 slots. But there will be an increase in FPS plus you will be able to run at higher resolutions better.
