I have an old Inspiron 531 that my son has used for his everyday PC needs. He was recently turned on to WoW and would like to put in the PNY NVIDIA GeForce GT 440(1GB DDR5) that was given to him.Now i'm no expert and neither is he.We installed the card and can hear the PC run through the boot up process as well as the fan on the card itself running but receive a black screen.Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated.

AMD Athlon 64X 2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ 2.60 GHz
4GB RAM
WIN 7 Home Premium 32-bit

300W PSU

Not sure if the system is just too old for the card or what.

Solution

It's a ASUS M2N61-AX mobo.

Seems like a perfectly normal PCIE16 slot, nothing to be incompatible there.

The most likely culprit is the PSU I'd say.

On Amazon it states that the 440 requires a minimum of a 300 W PSU with a minimum 12V current rating of 22A.Would it be safe to assume by the picture of my PSU that it is not enough and that's the issue?
