When I install the KB3079904 update, immediately after the computer restarts to finish the update and I log back into Windows 7 intellitype pro crashes (though I am still able to type) and Speccy is unable to recognize my hard drive and optical drive citing "unknown error 0x80041001." I don't know what else may be affected, but those two things are immediately obvious. Speccy also gives me some error message with what appears to my untrained eyes to be a single Japanese character when I open it. (I have installed a applocale from Microsoft to run Japanese programs, though I never get error messages in Japanese unless I'm using a Japanese program).
When I roll back the update with system restore these problems go away completely and the computer functions like normal again. I ran a virus check with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and no issues turned up. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is here and how I can update Windows 7 without these problems?
