Looking to upgrade my processor to a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115028 or those that dont wanna follow link Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 Conroe 3.0GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor.

I currently have a Gateway computer with a intel mobo D945gcf with a 1.8ghz dual core . My question is will this processor work with the mobo that i have . It appears that the 900 series will work with any 6000 or 4000 series dual core from what i understood from intel website but just wanted clarification from someone who knows much more than i do .
thanks for any help offered

I can not find the exact model you mention on intel site. The closest one is d945gclf. If that is the one , it works.

well i found one at http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3241546&CatId=2396 after i saw the one at newegg wasnt available . Would like to build a new system but just not possible at this time. Just trying to get a little better gaming experience than my 1.8ghz is giving me . Honestly i only play Warcraft which is very forgiving as far as specs go heh. Im really not even paying any money for it ,my mother calls me up and asks me what i want for christmas, tells me she is spending around 200 bucks a kid and i thought what the heck ill look into processors :)
