Current setup is as follows: My pc has a soundblaster z so I utilize the optical in from the ps4 to get my pc and ps4 audio through one headset. The issue is that the optical in on that card (and most line in cards do not) does not decode the surround sound from the ps4. Is there any solution that would allow me to have pc surround sound, and ps4 surround sound through a single headset?

Solution
Have you tried using a standard 3.5mm audio cord out from the sound card into your controller? Yes, it means the controller is going to be wired. NOte that this might disable your mic for the PS4 on your headset. I know of no other solution.

My suspicion is this is normal. If you are using Optical, then any surround signal is coming over as either Dolby or DTS, and I honestly don't know if the soundcard can decode those formats in realtime without going through some other application first. It's also possible the decoders are a separate purchase (I know that's what Creative used to do; no idea if that's changed or not).
