Dear friends,
I haven't been using my PC for a few weeks now. Today when I tried to turn it on, it ain't starting. I have doubts about the PSU. I use a Corsair VX450. How do I check if it's still working? I remember someone telling me that I can check by shorting a couple of wires in the 24 pin connector. I assembled the whole thing a couple of years ago but haven't been using it much these days. Please help me out.

I tried to short the green one and one of the black ones and it is not working. I checked the power cord too. There is no power in one of them (I guess it's the earth wire). The other two have. The tester bulb glowed when I tested those two pins. One of the pins have have strong supply whereas the other has very little current coming through it (dim light emitted by the bulb, probably neutral). Is it supposed to be this way? I thought there should be current supply in the live wire only as the cord was not connected to anything but the socket only when I tested it. Any help would be much appreciated.

The thing is still under warranty I guess. I want to make sure it really is dead before I go for the time consuming warranty claim. The current supply through the neutral wire is no issue at all?

the fact that it did not start start when you tried to short means it's dead :) that's what happened to me earlier :) I had to bring my EVGA 500b psu back to the store fore warranty purposes :) they said that it is a factory defect , so they will give me a new replacement psu :)

perhaps try to contact your psu's manufacturer dude, they might help regarding the warranty 😱 or if you are having thoughts, perhaps try using another psu ? borrow your friend's psu, just to check if your system powers up:O if it does , it's time to replace your psu, and if does not, other parts are faulty 😱 im sorry 😱

Yeah I did 😀. In fact I tried it several times. But nothing happened. I didn't expect this from a corsair product 🙁. Their products are generally very solid. So I guess I have to go for a warranty claim.

I guess so too bro 🙁(( anyway good luck with the warranty claim dude! :)
