Help With Puzzling Failure to Boot

I've run through every checklist and I can't seem to identify the problem. Every once in a while, my computer would power up, no post beep or monitor output, and I'll have to hard shut-down. If I try to power back on, it won't until I've unplugged/turned off the PSU. Until yesterday when it started happening constantly.

I went through the same process, but this time it didn't work after the PSU reset. There was no power draw (UPS). I just left the PSU off for about 10/15 minutes and then it did boot. I checked all the sensors, ran some benchmark, and there were no issues or abnormalities. Power draw and temps were normal. It went to sleep, then wouldn't boot back up. Same deal extended PSU off, it worked. I changed the CMOS battery because I've heard that that can cause a similar issue, it seemed like that helped in that the computer behaved normally for 24 hours. Throughout that time I checked my power button by jumping it and that didn't change anything, plus, the power button was still turning on the PC when it decided to boot. In addition, the PSU has one of those ECO switches, toggling that doesn't change anything.

I cleaned the power connectors and verified good connections. When the PSU is on and the PC is not booting, it's still supplying power to the GPU (visual indicators by both of the 8 pins) and the USB ports. There is no visual or smell indicator of hardware failure. I'm at a complete loss, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a part's list (and ages) if that helps:

PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 1050 GS 80 Plus Gold Certified 1050W (2015)
MoBo: GA-Z97X-Gaming 5 (2015)
CPU: 4670k @ 4.4ghz (2013)
CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H90 (2015)
RAM: Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 1866MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM (2016)
GPU: ROG-STRIX-GTX1080TI-O11G-GAMING (2017)
Case: Cooler Master HAF XM (2013)

can you acquire a power supply for testing? the unit should still have 5 years left on the warranty if the PSU is indeed the issue.

with just the basics, CPU and cooler, RAM (1 stick), iGPU remove the 1080 ti, monitor and keyboard. eliminate all the unneeded parts and add one at a time until the error reappears.

on a different matter - its been 2 years for the cooler I suggest replacing the thermal paste every 2 years as regular maintenance

Thanks, I'll see if I can get a PSU from a friend or cheap on Craigslist. For now, I've just been turning off the PSU after I shut down. I did a little more digging and I think it's most likely a MoBo issue. I've got an old compatible one, but I managed to ah heck up one of the pins when I was putting the cover on to store it.
