Help with Ram frequency (corsair vengeance 1600)

Hello,
i have recently bought a set of dual channel DDR3 Corsair Vengeance series at 1600Mhz. The tested timing for this memory are at 9-9-9-24 @ 1600. When I install them on my mobo (Asus p5q3) the default memory speed is at 800Mhz which is far below the capabilities of the ram. I managed to push the frequency of both my ram and my cpu(intel q9550) @ 1338Mhz (8-8-8-24) and 3.553Ghz (418x8.5, 1.2v) respectively from the BIOS. Can anybody give me any advice to reach 1600Mhz? All of my BIOS settings are left on auto since changing them was not making my system stable.

According to ASUS' page.

*DDR3 1600MHz or above DIMMs work only on the Orange slots for one DIMM per channel.

i am using the orange slots!
I have also noticed that there are no voltage spikes in auto.for example my nb memory is 1.10v in auto.
Also my ram voltage in auto is 1.5v and when I change the bios setting from auto to 1.5v my system becomes unstable.

The idea is to get CPU FSB to 1600Mhz since DRAM Frequency can only go as fast as CPU FSB.
That depends if you can push your CPU that far by playing around with the voltage, FSB and multiplier.

my current cpu fsb is 1672MHz and the fsb:dram ratio is 5:8.
The next setting i can set my dram in this configuration is at 1672MHz (1:2 ratio).
I don't mind lowering my fsb to get exactly 1600 (even though i am sure that this ram is capable of running at tested timings @ 1672MHz).
In general i am struggling to go past 1338MHz.

Each one of the channels is at 800MHz- 800 + 800 = 1600 This is dual channel.

Not very bright are you LOL, it's 800mhz per channel hence "Dual" channel memory 2 X 800 = 1600mhz, i'm surprised you haven't destroyed your ram and mobo with what you've done, you will never get your ram to operate at 1600mhz per channel.

I hope that jab in his side helped your ego. I hate coming on forums to read about something I too have issue with to learn how to address it, and in the end, people don't help. All they do is get the rise they didn't in high school. I too did not realize it is per paired channels.

I will go elsewhere. We weren't born knowledgeable in overclocking, yet too many people think they were and therefore consider everyone should have been.
