So my current mb is a MSI MS-7778. I am looking at a ram upgrade through a website given to me through another thread.

http://www.pc-specs.com/mobo/MSI/MSI_MS-7778_(Jasmine_R)/3575/Compatible_RAM .

My problem is that I looked at a specific stick suggested on the site, liked it, and googled it. But the problem that I came up with is that when I search it i get a similar stick, but not the same exact one. I need some help to know if the stick will work, and what to look for when I do future ram upgrades.

The stick that I found: https://www.neweggbusiness.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9B-20-231-485&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleBiz-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleBiz-PC-_-pla-_-Memory+%28Desktop+Memory%29-_-9B-20-231-485&gclid=Cj0KCQjwnqzWBRC_ARIsABSMVTNxR4VZdaGoPfTlY6GPyihH3HulPV5p31IXKRTtduTjFeIrAc2dzkEaAm9BEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

The stick that I found is slightly different than the ones that the site reccomended.
Thanks in advance.

Based on this support site: link takes you to a different motherboard "MS-7778 (Jasmine)",while the original poster is looking for (Jasmine_R).

A8 6500
Supported memory: DDR3-1866

Memory is guaranteed in the form sold. Combining two single modules with identical part numbers may not be able to operate at rated specifications when combined. Such combinations carry no guarantee to be compatible together. You are free to do your own compatibility testing.
Based on this support site:
Memory upgrade information
Dual channel memory architecture
Four 240-pin DDR3 DIMM sockets
Supports DDR3 DIMMs
PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333)
PC3-12800 (DDR3-1600)
PC3-14400 (DDR3-1866)
Non-ECC memory only, unbuffered
Supports 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB or 8 GB DIMMs
Supports up to 4 GB on 32-bit systems
NOTE:
32-bit systems cannot address a full 4.0 GB of memory.
Supports up to 32 GB on 64-bit systems
NOTE:
Maximum memory shown reflects the capability of the hardware and can be limited further in the operating system.

Which means you should be looking at DDR3-1866MHz ram kits as the maximum frequency. I would suggest getting a ram kit as opposed to having to jump through hoops, source a stick that may look the same and then troubleshoot all day long.

Might it be possible to parse your unit's SKU? The processors info will do.

My processor is an AMD A8 6500 quad core with 3.5 ghz and up to 4.1 with boost. I don't know if its important, but the socket is fm2, not fm2+
