installed new hyperx genesis 8gb ram sticks but it went into boot loop. installed alongside old 4gb ram and then bios recognised new ram but went into BSOD. Tried searching for bios settings but i can't seem to find much that i can understand. Can't find timings on sticker. Tried adjusting voltage to 1.66v as there is no 1.65 option

mobo: Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H
RAM: Kingston Hyper-X Genesis KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX
OS: Windows 10 Pro
BIOS Version: F11

That's a 2x 4Gb kit. So should be recognised by bios, accepted by the mobo.

What I'd do is pull out the old ram and put the new ram in the white slots. Then clear your cmos. Then try booting to bios.

Adding ram is always a gamble as you are trying to combine 2 different sets of IC chips. Doesn't matter even if the ram is identical on the outside, it's the inside that matters. You see the primary timings, the 9-9-9-27 etc, but there's also 40+ secondary and tertiary timings you don't see that also have to play nice. All it takes is 1 conflict and you bsod.

So first see if you can get the new ram alone to work successfully, then worry about whether it's going to mingle with the old ram (you'd put those in the blue slots)
