Hello all

I know this has been asked a lot of times but I want to be 100% of this before buying everything. I still have some questions and doubts about Rzyen CPUs.

Well, since I don't have too many options on hardware brands where I live, this is what I want to use, just CPU, motherboard and RAM:

AMD Ryzen 5 1600
Motherboard Gigabyte AB350 Gaming (since the easiest to get are Gigabyte and Asus)
RAM <- here is where I'm very confused since I see that not all RAMs are fully supported by
Ryzen CPUs and still are kind of buggy. I don't know what to choose but I heard that Ryzen works better with 3200Mhz but not with any kind of memory.

I want this build just for gaming, I already have a GTX 970 that I will use with this.

What do you recommend me to pick with this, will the Rzyen 5 and the 970 bottleneck?

Thanks for reading and your help.

Now if you are going to just game the Intel core i5 7600k is a great CPU and will save you $100. You don't need to buy a core i7(for just gaming), the core i7 is more for gamers and streamers. The i5 will be more than enough and...
I wouldn't recommend Ryzen for gaming.

Save your pennies until you can afford a quality z270 board and grab an i5 7600k or i7 7700k.

Yes, in certain single threaded games a a stock Ryzen 5 will run out of throughput before the GPU does. These are mostly RTS and open world games.

Do you think that? Right now I have a core i5 4440 since 2013 but I want to upgrade my rig and I'm looking for something nice but not too expensive either

Thanks for your answer, do you think that Intel CPUs are still a good choice fro gaming over the next years? My intention is to upgrade my actual rig (B85 motherboard, core i5 4440, DDR3 8GB 1600Mhz Dual Channel memory) for something nice and newer.

Nah I'd stick with the Ryzen for now. The R5-1600 and R5-1600X are just as good if not better than Intel's current offerings in Kaby Lake.

When it comes to the sole purpose of just gaming the intel core i7 7700k and core i5 7600k will out-performe any Ryzen CPU. Most benchmarks confirm that for gaming, the i7-7700K still outperforms all of AMD’s newest processors . Don't get me wrong Ryzen is a great architecture with good single core performance, but when it comes to the sole purpose of gaming it falls behind intel's Kaby Lake excellent single core performance.

For the $350 range and for strictly gaming it is hard to top the 7700K, and I agree that is true. But the R7-1700 comes very close in a lot of games. For the $250 range though most of the magazines and professional review sites point to the 1600X as being the better CPU.

I'm not saying that Ryzen's are bad and like g-unit1111 pointed out they are worth considering them. Actually, Ryzen CPUs do make a lot of more sense for people wanting to do intensive multi-tasks along with rendering and some gaming. And like you pointed out their price is hard to beat. The Multi-cores and threads on the Ryzen CPUs makes them better for things like video editing and streaming than Intel’s Kaby Lake CPU's. But like i said if you are looking for the sole purpose of gaming and you wan't to squeeze those extra frames per second, then the i7-7700K still the best a gamer can get specially after been overclocked close or to 5ghz with a decent cooler. Their excellent single core performance is unbeatable. Now I do like the idea of having more cores and in the near future they will be required but by then it will be time for an upgrade. My personal opinion for the best @gaming The i7 7700k, now if you care about saving some $ then the Ryzen 5 1600X and still a great CPU and you won't be disappointed.

Yeah that's exactly my opinion as well. For strictly gaming go i7-7700K. Otherwise go R5-1600X.

Thank you to both and yeah, I won't do anything like streaming, programming or things like that, just gaming and the usual internet surfing. I want a non-K since I want to save some money. Is still the non-K version a good choice?

Your picture crack me up:lol:

Cheers.

Now if you are going to just game the Intel core i5 7600k is a great CPU and will save you $100. You don't need to buy a core i7(for just gaming), the core i7 is more for gamers and streamers. The i5 will be more than enough and still better at single core performance than any Zen CPU. Now the Ryzen 5 1600 will kill the i5 in multi-threaded applications and I personally rather have more cores but since we are talking about pure gaming and nothing else Kaby Lake still the clear winner and you will get better frames per seconds using Kaby Lake
