You have several choices here:
1. You can clone or migrate your OS to your SSD using a cloning utility (actually most SSDs come with a migration utility that you can use for that). I personally prefer using Acronis True Image as a cloning software, because it lets you mark what to get transferred in the process.
2. However, a clean install is the recommended way to do this! Basically you won't be having any trouble to fresh install Windows on the SSD if you have the OS installation disk/usb. This is the best way because you won't be transferring any dump/redundant files from your old OS installation. To do this you have to leave only the SSD plugged in the SATA ports to avoid any confusion during the process...
