About 3 months ago my car was broken into, a month ago my girlfriends car was broken into, and the other day her truck was stolen (recovered), and I have a motorcycle that I'm worried may be stolen.

I want to install one or possibly two cameras to watch the parking spaces in front of her apartment, but they have to be wireless since I obviously can't run a cable through the wall into the studio; it should be said that there is an outdoor outlet that I'll be plugging into for power. I would like to be able to store it to a PC with several TB of storage dedicated to it, also running Blue Iris software. What kind of camera would you guys recommend? There's so many, and so many have mixed reviews. I'd like a dome camera for the lower profile, but I find so few that are wireless and weatherproof.

Sorry to hear about your problems. Hopefully you are filing the appropriate police reports....

As for the camera - a good wireless and weather proof camera will be costly. Look for reviews by verified purchasers. Also visit the manufacturer's websites and read the User Guides/Manuals. Check the FAQs and Forums. You can learn a lot by both what is said and what is not said.

Do not know where you live but I would be somewhat concerned about the legality of having your own security camera. I would hope that doing so would be okay but there are some funny laws/rulings about and without proper "notification" or "warnings" signs any captured images may be inadmissable. You may be "invading privacy".... Check with the police and/or apartment management to see if a camera will really be helpful beyond just visually capturing events.
