Hi, I dont fully understand the hz range differences in all the new speakers so would like someones advice. My only other selection pre req is LOOKS, the first being SOUND quality. I like the look of the SpeedLink Powerstixx SL-8251 Ultra 5.1 90W Speakers but cannot find any reviews anywhere. The numbers they list are (Subwoofer: 65W RMS (40-135Hz), Satellites: 5x15W RMS (250Hz-20kHz))

They are within budget but does anyone know if they are any good? Tom, Any chance of a review?
Thanks very much for your help.

Hz is the range of what your ears can hear, So around 20-20,000 Hz. Although you can feel "sound", like a subwoofer that goes below human hearing.

They look pretty cool. The power to the speakers are good for computer speakers. No clue on if they are worth the price. And you might to check if they are shielded.

When I do a search for those speakers I'm finding them for over $300 USD (about 160 GBP, all the sites were uk). Are those the ones you are looking for?
I know wattage isn't everything when it comes to speakers but $300 USD for a 90watt speakers system? That doesn't sound right to me. You can get a Klipsch promedia ultra 5.1 system for that price and it is 500watts.
If your budget allows for that expensive of a system buy the klipsch promedia system. It is probably the best set of computer speakers out there. The only thing better would be hooking your computer upto a home theater system :)

If that price is to steep go for the Logitech Z-5300e 5.1 system. It is a 280watt system that comes at a decent price and sounds very nice.

from what i can find in that price range (im ballparking it at $200-400 since i cant find a ton of sites selling the Powerstixx), i'd agree on the Logitech Z-5300s. THX certified and double the RMS wattage of the Powerstixx.

That system is alot higher then 90 watts! More like 140 watts base. That is basic, not total. It really depends on how it sounds. You can't go wrong with the Klipsch's.<A HREF="http://reviews.cnet.com/Klipsch_ProMedia_Ultra_5_1/4505-3179_7-30602151-2.html?tag=glance" target="_new">http://reviews.cnet.com/Klipsch_ProMedia_Ultra_5_1/4505-3179_7-30602151-2.html?tag=glance</A>

The Logitech Z-680 sound better, IMO. This was an in store comparison.

I rather do decent home speakers over either systems. They would cost alot more. Hehe.
