Hey guys im having trouble with getting sli to work.
When i open the nvidia control panel i click the sli/physx tab on the left then i see that sli is disabled and i cant click on the maximise 3d performance icon.
Nvidia control panel detects both the cards and so does device manager.
Both the cards work on there own, both have updated drivers.....
How can i fix this?is there an option in my bios i need to enable first?
Cards are gigabyte 970 and evga 970.
Motherboard is a gigabyte Z97X gaming gt.build for sli.
Thanks in advance jake.

Solution
The PCI-E slots are correct, and I don't think SLI bridges age like that.

Try going into BIOS, do nothing, come back out and boot, see if that helps?

If not, try this:

1. Uninstall all GPU drivers properly, using DDU.
2. Install your first 970, install driver, boot, then shutdown
3. Take out your first 970, install your second 970, boot then shutdown
4. Install both 970's and the bridge, and boot.

Sometimes installers doesn't always clean drivers off properly. Try using DDU to make sure.

Edit: On that specific motherboard, it is recommended that, in a dual GPU setup, to install both GPU's into the X16 slots
