help with speakers and wires please!

Hey guys i need your help. im going to build a car sound system in my house, but im not sure what gauge wire to use? should i use a very thick why or small? also if i use a too thick wire would there be any drawbacks? Thanks

Minimum wire guage would be 16ga. Bigger is better especially for long runs.
