Hi just recently installed a hyper fury 240gb SSD into my new system. Installed windows 7 64bit to the SSD and now when windows is loading up and the login screen comes on the fans lose power for a split second and then start up again. Any ideas why this is happening as it never used to with my old HDD.

took a small video to show you, not the best quality.

If they work after the boot dont worry and just enjoy the silence while theyre off

Something doesn't make sense...

The media on which the OS is installed would not affect fan performance unless the media requires more power. In your case, your SSD requires less, so there's less strain on the PSU.

Did you, by chance, rewire any fans while swapping out the HDD for the SSD? Or do you now have both your HDD and SSD connected to your system?

Something tells me that your PSU SATA/Molex rails are becoming faulty and can't handle the load, or your PSU wasn't designed for that load, or too much power is being distributed on a single connector.

Try disconnecting all chassis fans and anything else connected to SATA/Molex (other than your SSD,) and connect just that one fan to the motherboard. Start up the computer again and see if that one fan turns off during startup.

nope didn't rewire any fans and now i have both the SSD and HDD connected to my system. My PSU is an EVGA 1000W SuperNOVA 1000 G2 ATX 80 PLUS Gold PSU.

I'll try what you have suggested and see if it makes a difference.

UPDATE***** disconnected other SATA cables from PSU but it still happens, opened case to see which fans were stopping and it's only the case fans, the CPU fan is still running fine . Could this be a faulty PSU??? even though the problem has only started since I have installed the SSD as my main drive.

It's possible that you could have a defective PSU, but I'm not sure that's the case.

Are the case fans connected to the motherboard or to the PSU through molex? If they're connected to your motherboard it's possible that your board's headers may be going bad. (If they are connected to the motherboard) try temporarily disconnecting all other fans connected to the board (EXCEPT the CPU fan) and connect just a single case fan to a motherboard header that you know absolutely works.

Your PSU is fully modular, right? If the fans are connected to Molex try using a different Molex cable and put it into a different port on the PSU.
