Help with SSD

I just installed a new Corsair XT ssd. This is first time ever installing a new storage device so go easy on me.

I've had my pc for around a year now running off of a 1 tb hdd with the os on it. But I desired more speed and more storage (and possibly to be used as a bootdrive) so i bought an ssd.

I just installed a new Corsair Xt 480 GB ssd. Ive plugged in the power and the sata cable, but what now?

I just booted up my pc and the drive is clearly not showing up. I'm assuming it has to do with some sort of bios setting that i am un-aware of.

I remind you, I have never done this before so as much detail as possible would be great! Thanks

Edit after a restart device is now showing up. One more stupid question thought.

How do i store on it?????

I can find it on my computer but how do i install or move programs onto it.... please help
