I’m going to get a 970 EVO 250GB for Christmas (https://www.amazon.ca/Samsung-970-EVO-250GB-MZ-V7E250BW/dp/B07BN5FJZQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1542502752&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=970+evo+250gb&dpPl=1&dpID=41Bub04YUkL&ref=plSrch) that one exactly. I want to know how I would get Windows into the SSD from my HDD. I don’t have the an activated windows install, (it says “Activate Windows” in bottom right). Help is needed!

200GB is right on the edge of a viable clone operation into a 250GB SSD.

Specific steps for a successful clone operation:
-----------------------------
Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive

1. What motherboard do you have?
2. How much space is consumed on your current drive?
3. What size is this new SSD? - 250GB.

B350M Gaming PRO, around 200GB as I just wiped my whole system (200GB out of a 1TB HDD). And 250GB is the size of the SSD I’ll be getting. I posted link so you can see everything about it.

Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
This is to allow the system to try to boot from ONLY the SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe as necessary.
Delete the 450MB Recovery Partition, here:
