My pc specs:
Intel i5-3330s 2.7GHZ
MSI GTX 970 4GB
8GB DDR3
Unbranded Dell Motherboard (Ivy Bridge Chipset) (Model 042P49)
And a 1TB Hdd

I was wondering weather it would be worth it paying £120 to upgrade my processor to an i7-3770 or even for £20-£30 more to buy and i7-3770k I was just curious as what kind of difference I would be able to see if I were to upgrade and the certain pros and cons of weather or not I should do it. I know it's quite a specific question but I'm very new to computer building and components and what not so all help is appreciated

Thanks :)

CPU-Z, Mainboard: what are the Chipset and Southbridge? What is the BIOS version?

You have a Dell motherboard; you shouldn't presume that an i7-3770 or i7-3770K will work. It isn't because the socket is the correct one that the OEM BIOS will support it properly (correct speed, etc.)

I am pretty sure as when I open up CPU-Z it says I'm on the ivy bridge chipset

I want to begin using it for gaming that's why I bought the GTX 970

my only worry is that because my motherboard isn't anything special it may not be able to handle an i7 but I don't know much about pc's honestly, but I know I definitely wont be able to overclock on it though

okay thanks, I think i'll buy second hand though to get it cheapest, do you think my current fan for my i5 will work with an i7? its just the stock heatsink btw

alright ill look into it, thanks for your help :)
