Help with VPN

New position here at a company and realize they don't have a VPN. My previous employer used Cisco AnyConnect, and that was very easy to deal with. Is there a VPN similar to AnyConnect where you basically just enter your login info, and are simply connected? I've never officially setup a VPN before, and I'm looking for something basic.

well my friend, you definitely need to do some reading, i will point you in the right direction

in general there are 2 ways to setup VPN access:
you can use a gateway device, like a cisco router for example or a sonicwall firewall.
or you can use a VPN server on the local network, for example a windows server with routing and remote access enabled.

Jesus Christmas I'm always bowled over by these posts! What qualifications or experience do u have to be an IT person????
Anyconnect isn't just a case of putting in your details, someone who knows what they are doing has set it up.
As stated above, go do some homework and read a book,but also set up a lab do some testing! Hope you don't get found out. Sorry I don't mean to be rude.

There is a reason anyconnect is somewhat simpler to setup. The vpn appliance cost a fortune and you must buy a license for every client on top of that. Juniper has a similar box that is equally as expensive.

The key to the ease of use is they dynamically install client software via activex. The end user does not have to do much.

Almost all other you have to have a way to distribute and get client software installed.

If you current company has the budget get the solutions from cisco or juniper. You trade off high equipment costs compared to high labor costs to get a person who can design and maintain a vpn solution for employee access.

In any case this is not a beginner project, it is a lot more advanced that just setting up vpn between a couple of locations.
