Hello! Somehow I've avoided getting an SSD for a good 6 or so years now and have finally decided to fix that. However, my motherboard is quite old (GA-Z77-DS3H) and doesn't seem to have M.2 slots, though please correct me if I'm wrong. Honestly I'm having a bit of trouble wrapping my head around all the terminology in the first place (m.2, pcie, nvme, sata, etc.) so I'll just give the facts and hopefully someone can help give me a recommendation.

I have an open PCIe 3.0 slot (though I don't know how to tell whether it's 4x or 16x), 2 SATA3's (both of which are occupied by my current drive) and 3 SATA2's. With all this given, what's the best way to go about getting an SSD?

Solution
"GA-Z77-DS3H "

2.5" SATA III SSD
Ignore all the other types.

Samsung 860 EVO or Crucial MX500.
Whatever size your budget can handle.
