Hey everyone,

I have a quick question. I recently built a system with the x6800 cpu. I wanted to screw with ocing. I noticed that @ stock this thing idles @ 29C with Zalman 9700 which is great. Load about 45-50C. I oced 10% in asus board and load temp would jump to 55-60C depending on load. prime95 would load @ upper 50's low 60's. Is this normal???? Don't want to fry this!!! Please help ease my mind.

If this temps are read by CoreTemp or TAT than u're safe ... anything below 70C is good for your proc to last minimum 2-3 years. If u wanna keep it ... like forever 😀 ... then u should stay with full load temps @ around 55-60C

X6800 runs a bit hotter than the other non-extreme C2Ds so you are FINE. Keep it under 75c for it to be stable and remember that is voltage what dictates the life of a CPU, not temps.
