ok, i spent half a day googling this very error and couldn't find a resolution.

the error: you do not have permission to access \\htpc\.....contact your network administrator...blah..blah..'

so here's my set up.

Kid PC1
Kip PC2
Main PC
HTPC

all computers are running Win7. i usually transfer/stream files between the Main PC and HTPC. this has always been working.

BUT today, the error message pops up. i have no idea why the error shows up.

i did make sure that network discovery is ON, file sharing is ON, password protection OFF, etc, etc. i also made sure that the drive on the HTPC is shared with everyone.

i haven't change a thing, since the day i set it up and it's been working like a charm. EXCEPT today. nothing i can do to get rid of this error.

i truly appreciate your help with this. thanks much!

I have the same problem. I DO however have my shares password protected - but where I previously always got a login prompt I now directly get the "You do not have permission to access..." error message.

This started as of today when I installed the latest 2-3 weeks of security updates on my media server. So this problem does DEFINATELY have to do with some new security junk form microsoft. Only problem is I have no idea how to get around it?!?!

As of now none of my computers or mediaboxes (ATV2 for example) can access my server to stream movies...

Any help is apprechiated!
